PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH CONSULTATION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION
Intensive Workshops In Assessment

Assessment is fundamental to all mental health interventions and acts as a primary determiner of what to do with clients. There are 2 different approaches to assessing a client's level of functioning. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders approaches assessment from a nomenclature of mental disorders and the symptoms included in a diagnostic category, while a Developmental perspective focuses on using models of normal expectations across the stages of the life span to understand difficulties in current functioning. Both perspectives are important in assessing a client's current status.
